UTS Impact Studio. Implementing original art on a website redesign

Nestled within the academic corridors of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Impact Studios is not merely a podcast production studio but a dynamic force in exploring research and academia. Impact Studios prides itself on being a creative hub that brings scholarly discussions to life through podcasting. This case study unveils the collaborative journey of Impact Studios and Pulse Agency as they set out to reimagine the studio’s identity and elevate its online narrative via revamped branding and a particularly original website.

The challenge

This project’s complexity included:


  • A branding refresh must define a new identity while remaining consistent with the UTS brand identity and requirements. 
  • A new website with a new user experience, additional functionality, and interactions with other APIs, such as OMNY (a well-known podcast distribution provider). 
  • A content hub structure map and design aligned with the intended user experience, and some backend widgets allowed their staff to streamline their online operations. 
  • Extensive collaboration with animator Fionn McCabe to use his unique artwork as a significant actor in the website design. It’s worth noting that for the digital assets, Fionn uses a technique called risograph, which entails printing and rescanning each frame of the hand-drawn animation drawings to get a rich texture on the finished products. The website’s build and design had to be adapted to their multi-step workflow to synch with their team while they developed these extremely complex processed deliverables.


The solution

Beginning with a logo and brand identity overhaul, we seamlessly transitioned to a WordPress platform integrated with OMNY, creating a dynamic ecosystem for real-time data flow. For the success of a user experience design, we mapped and


Fionn McCabe’s distinctive artwork became integral to the narrative, implemented digitally through innovative techniques to ensure a visually rich outcome. Social media features were amplified, weaving seamlessly into the podcast streaming experience.




With its intuitive UX, the website redesign empowers the Impact Studios team to showcase their podcast collection, share data, and present a compelling narrative. The inclusion of McCabe’s artwork adds a visually striking element. Pulse Agency successfully modernizes Impact Studios within the UTS umbrella, seamlessly integrating branding elements, podcast streaming, and a captivating online store. The results speak to a transformed Impact Studios, now poised for a dynamic and engaging digital future.
